There are a variety of different ways that one can go about healing the heart chakra. The element associated with this chakra is air. Here you are going to learn the fire breathing exercise that can be used to harness it’s powerful energy. It is important to note, females that are currently menstruating should not perform this exercise.
You will start by being seated in a comfortable position. This can be in a chair or on the floor with your legs crossed.
Make sure to keep your spine straight, have your neck extended with your chin slightly back as if you are a soldier standing at attention.
Close your eyes and allow your hands to rest on your thighs.
It is important to try and allow the muscles in the stomach to relax.
Next, begin breathing at a rapid pace through your nose. The emphasis on both the exhalation and inhalation should be equal, neither should be more concentrated or forceful then the other.
Make sure to keep the breath very shallow, just at the tip of your nose. To start, make sure you are breathing at a comfortable pace working into a more steady rhythm. Try to ignore your diaphragm and chest, focus on the breathing. Your stomach is going to pulse on it’s own rhythm to your breath.
Do this for a minute and then relax.
For those that are interested in taking this technique to the next level, you can increase the speed of your breathing further, and increase the time for which you maintain this breathing to approximately three minutes.
If you consider yourself an advanced practitioner, you can take it a level further by increasing the speed and power of your breathing, and perform the exercise for approximately eleven minutes.
It is not advisable for anyone that has not done this breathing exercise before to go beyond one minute the first few times.
Healing the heart chakra is important as it plays a vital role in keeping you at peace, open to compassion, and love. Keeping your chakras in balance is important to decrease stress, increase immunity,battle disease, and infection. It is responsible for the flow of the blood in the body, the heart, the lungs, and circulation. Coupled with the fact that this particular energy center has a great influence over our feelings and emotions.
When the heart chakra is not in balance it is possible to become sick or suffer from physical and/or emotional changes. Of all the seven chakras, it is the heart that tends to create the most discord in the body when it is blocked or out of balance. Healing is important whenever you start to feel that there is a change that has taken place in you, especially a change that relates to the physical and emotional aspects that this chakra is responsible for.
